Tofe Ofa Atu Mabe Pearl Pendant

Pearl jewellery pendants are made using traditional Tongan materials of mabe pearl and tapa, blended with a contemporary design. Each piece is designed to be unique and individual. All Mabe pearls are grown and harvested in the Kingdom of Tonga and jewellery made locally.

A Mabe pearl is actually a cultured blister pearl that is grown differently than other cultured pearls. Instead of being grown inside the body of a mollusk creature, a mabe pearl is grown against the inside of the shell. These mabe pearls are grown and harvested in the Kingdom.

The beautiful Tongan mabe pearls exhibit intense colors and glow under ultraviolet light, with high luster and orient, making them sort after the world over.

Debra Allan of Tofe 'Ofa Atu was the 2016 winner of the inaugural Made Pearl Competition, Beginner Artisan for her mabe pearl jewellery. Each piece of jewellery from Tofe Ofa Atu is presented in a box made from Tongan tapa cloth and hand painted with traditional designs.
