The roots of five year old Kava plants are dried and then ground into a fine powder to make a drink that forms a unique part of Polynesian culture. Kava, known for its mellow and relaxing effects has a role in ceremonies and social gatherings . Kava is a natural alternative to alcohol and anti-anxiety/anti-depressant medication.
Directions
Place one cup of Kava Powder in a cloth bag or wrapped in a dish cloth .Place cloth in a bowl with about 1 litre of water and knead with hands for 5-10 minutes, keeping the powder inside the cloth until the colour of the water appears like milky coffee with a slightly foamy surface. Once ready, pour off liquid for drinking. This will serve one to four people.
